Drums

Three new workshop drums.

These are spare drums for my workshops. All 3 are on Wild Cherry hoops. The two on the left are Reindeer, whilst the one on the right is Red Deer.

2 Red Stag and Oak Drums-15 inch

Two beautiful drums, birthed on the moors in Lancashire.
Both of these drums look amazing, more importantly, they sound amazing.
They have a wonderful resonance with excellent singing voices
making them perfect for journey work and healing.
They really are superb drums.
Here are the two stunning 15 inch Oak frames after final sanding and oiling.
Ready for the next stage.

And here we are on the moors.
 Ready for the birthing.

Next is a selection of images of the finished drums after drying and oiling.
Awaiting the final part of their journey to find their new keepers.

Shamandrew Drum - White Feet

This is my working drum, White Feet.
She often takes the form of a small, wild black mare, with snowy white feet.
In November 2012 I had to source a new supplier.
This is the first drum I birthed with their beautiful Ash hoops and skins.
This is a 15" Ash hoop with Fallow skin.
The resonance of this drum is excellent and she has a beautiful singing voice.
I work with her daily for healing, journeying and sometimes we simply sing together.
Check out my links for the suppliers blog.

Shamantha Drum - Dainty Feet

This drum was birthed for Sam.
The lacing on this drum is one piece with just one knot at the start.
I was recently shown how to do the lacing
completely knotless, which makes for a much nicer sound and flow.
The hoop is pine and painted in red ochre.
The skin is red deer, which was rather stretchy to work with.
A lovely looking, sounding, working drum.

My first drum, birthed in Nov 2011.

Not the best crafted drum as the lacing is knotted off
at each hole which means sometimes the knots vibrate with a buzz.
Still a lovely drum with good resonance.
Red deer skin on a 15" Pine 12 sided frame.
Sometime later the design below was added, using a sharpie
Permanent black marker. Again, not the brightest idea, though it still
plays ok if warm enough and is often worked with.
